Rhone Valley
The Rhone Valley is split in 2, Northern Rhone & Southern Rhone. The South is generally Grenache-led blends, it contains the gargantuan appellation of Cote-du-Rhone as well as the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape and up and coming Gigondas and Lirac. The Northern Rhone is much more high end. It is famous for it's Syrah-led ones, big and peppery. Most areas mandate 100% Syrah, and these are some of the most famous names in the wine world. There are a few white styles too that can be utterly epic.
