ON THE TASTING TABLE THIS WEEK is Viano Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from San Francisco. This is an old favourite of ours that we sadly cannot import any more. One of the last hold outs in their area in San Francisco, this is a dry farmed, Mom and Pop team that make really salt of the earth wines.
WHY BUY? It wasn't even supposed to be available - found in our stocktake, we thought it was gone! Dusty, rusty Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French and American oak, the wine, the label, the methods are very last century.
