MAURO VEGLIO was the student of the famous ELIO ALTARE, a modernist in the barolo story (though both men would object to the term). Mauro's nephew has taken the helm and somewhat ironically as the younger man, has brought back more traditional wine making. The wines have gone to the next level over the last 5 years, 2022 is a really forward approachable vintage.
Barolo DOCG (2 bottles) is their classico Barolo, fruit from 4 of the Barolo communes. Serralunga d'Alba is a typically firm and robust Serralunga, from a famous vineyard. Casteletto is also a firm example from La Morra, named for the famous castle that sits above the vineyard. Aborina is an adjacent cru in La Morra, it is more elegant and feminine. 2020 Roche Dell Annunziata is their famous Riserva.
