Chenin Blanc was allegedly discovered on Mont Chenin in Touraine, in the Loire Valley. It achieves perfect pitch here in the garden of France, at the meeting of oceanic and continental climates. The Loire remains the variety's spiritual home. Domaine Des Deux Vallees is a Chenin specialist.
Equilibriste is their entry level wine and it is just pitch perfect, fresh, clean Chenin, bursting with pear, quince and granny smith. We then have 3 altogether more serious Chenins that show more depth and complexity. Anjou En Terrases notes of lemon pithe and texture, Savennieres is savoury with camomille and brsuh and herbs, while the single plot Clos de Petit Beaupreau shows weight and honeycomb.
