The King of Spain
Alvaro Palacios is responsible for the most expensive wines in Spain, centered in 3 regions. In Priorat it is Garnacha & Carinena, and the expensive one is his famed L'Ermita. In Bierzo, he grows Mencia, his crown jewel is the La Faraona. Most recently he has re-invented modern Rioja with his 20 year project; Valmira. (When i say these wines are expensive, I mean SUPER expensive, L'Ermita in the thousands!)
He is also famous for the incredible value in his entry level wines, Camins del Priorat (Priorat), Petalos (Bierzo) and La Vendimia (Rioja). All the wines are red and they are all really clear, expressive and moorish, but satisfying and explosive, iron fist in a velvet glove stuff. View his story HERE
