The Castello is an historic site in the North-West area of Montalcino. In 1984 it was bought by the famous Italian painter and sculptor, Sandro Chia, the pioneer of Italy’s “Transvanguardia” neo-expressionist movement. Today, wine making is guided by one of Brunello’s leading prognosticators, Franco Martini. The old vines have been honed to perfection to make wines that are as stylish and refined as the Sandro Chia original art pieces that adorn the label. Ian D’Agata, regularly cited as the leading voice on fine Italian wines has said, Casetello Romoitorio’s wines are some of Montalcino’s sleekest and most perfumed. I couldn’t agree more, it is the perfect match of stylishness and power.
Notable for its pure cherry and kirsch aromas and flavors, this red is also stylish and graceful. Rose, wild thyme and stony mineral elements come into play as this develops on the palate. Beautifully integrated, fresh and firm, this glides to a long, resonant aftertaste. 97 POINTS, WINE SPECTATOR
